Mining for Solutions – Tue. January 24, 2017 Vancouver BC

Mining for Solutions will introduce industry decision makers to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with innovative solutions for challenges in the mining sector.

In the drive to improve productivity and competitiveness, innovation continues to be top-of-mind for economic sectors across Canada. Mining for Solutions aims to advance innovation in the mining sector by convening key industry stakeholders to advance the adoption of new technologies and practices.

A complementary event to Roundup 2017, the half-day group session will feature presentations on specific industry Challenges by the mining industry, as well as discussions on how to accelerate innovation and solutions deployment with senior government officials, innovation organizations and industry.

The session will focus on the following Challenges:

1| Remote, Real-Time Water Quality Monitoring – Water quality monitoring is central to environmental management programs

2| Reduction of Oversize in Draw Points in Underground Mines – Non-uniform material sizes create a significant impediment to processing efficiency

3| Low Grade Energy Recovery in Mining Operations – Up to 50% of all energy consumed in mining is lost as low grade waste heat

4| Treatment of Water and Tailings – Management of mine waste prevents and minimizes air, water, and soil contamination

5| ICT & Mining – Peter van der Gracht, Chair of Wavefront, CANADA’S centre of excellence for wireless commercialization will discuss the industrial internet of things and how smart sensors and networking can lower costs throughout the mining life cycle.

There will also be an opportunity for B2B private meetings to discuss these Challenges and potential solutions in the afternoon.
